Estonian technology startup Roleo has raised €2.9 million to expand its autonomous AI career agent across Europe, the company announced on 2 November 2026. The funding round will finance engineering work to match technology workers with employers automatically without requiring CV submissions or public job board searches.

Key points

  • Baltic venture capital firm Practica Capital led the €2.9 million investment round, with backing from Nordic investor Inventure.
  • Roleo operates a free software agent that continuously screens employment openings and introduces candidates directly to hiring managers.
  • The startup was founded by Veriff co-founder Janer Gorohhov and former Wise engineer Vahur Hansen.
  • The company has now raised €3.46 million in total capital and plans to add longer-term career planning features.

Automating the executive search process

Tallinn-based Roleo builds software designed to act as an automated representative for individual employees. Rather than requiring users to browse listings or reply to recruitment agency messages, the platform collects data on an engineer or product manager’s past projects, target remuneration, preferred team structures and work flexibility. It then monitors openings across European technology companies continuously.

When the platform detects an opening matching those parameters, it introduces the worker directly to the hiring manager. The process bypasses traditional application portals and cover letters. Workers keep control over which firms see their identity and decide whether to open discussions on a case-by-case basis.

Since January 2026, the company said its system has guided users into 30,000 job discussions. The software parses hundreds of thousands of postings each week, filtering the data down to present roughly three tailored recommendations to each subscriber.

“We believe everyone should have a personal active career agent that understands what they want, keeps an eye on the market, and brings relevant opportunities to them,” said Janer Gorohhov, co-founder and chief executive of Roleo.

Backing from Baltic and Nordic investors

The financing round was led by Vilnius-based Practica Capital, with participation from Helsinki venture firm Inventure. Seed fund Lemonade Stand also backed the round, alongside private investors including Henrik Bohman, Kristina Lilleõis, Sergei Anikin and Bolt’s founder, Markus Villig.

The investment brings Roleo’s cumulative funding to €3.46 million. The capital injection comes as venture funds accelerate backing for autonomous task systems across enterprise functions. Earlier this year, specialised software developers such as Crux Labs and general assistant creators like Wabi attracted multi-million-euro rounds to automate repetitive knowledge work.

Gorohhov established the startup alongside chief technology officer Vahur Hansen. Gorohhov previously helped build Estonian identity verification firm Veriff as co-founder. Hansen worked on the core infrastructure team at financial technology giant Wise before co-founding food delivery platform Membo.

Targeting passive candidates

Hiring across the software industry often stalls because senior engineers rarely check classified boards. Instead, recruiters rely on cold messaging over professional networks, which yields low response rates and consumes significant working hours.

Roleo aims to solve that friction by representing the candidate rather than the employer. The company reported that staff at Stripe, Spotify, Amazon and Google currently use the system to track outside opportunities passively. By presenting hiring teams with candidates who have already cleared internal preference criteria, companies reduce screening overheads.

The shift mirrors broader efforts in the software market to deploy independent workflow agents, such as Marble Cognition, which observe business operations to take over administrative tasks. In hiring, agents remove the routine labour of matching qualifications to role descriptions.

Next steps for European expansion

Roleo will deploy the fresh capital to broaden its employer coverage beyond its initial Baltic and Nordic core, targeting major technology hubs in the UK, Germany and France.

Engineers at the startup are also expanding the software’s underlying data models. Roleo plans to evolve the product from an opportunity tracker into an advisory system that maps out skill gaps, promotion pathways and long-term career progression for European developers.
